A Dress Review: The Weekend Doll Regina Dress

I was sent the Regina Dress to try by Weekend Doll.

Initially, from the website photos alone, I was unsure whether I was going to like it when it arrived. Although the photos are good, I found it very difficult to gauge length, and I worried that maybe the waist band looked a little high and the waist sash wouldn’t sit right.

Much to my relief, when the dress arrived, my fears were unfounded! It’s very much a vintage style dress, rather than a vintage reproduction dress. It’s finished look all depends on how you wear it, and your accessories. It’s good quality, well finished, in a light weight cotton, but fully lined so you don’t need to worry about it going see through.

The bodice fit a lot better than I had anticipated. I had worried that on my long body the waist seam would sit too high and give that “kids party dress” look that I hate so much, but fortunately it sat like a fitted bodice,so the bottom seam was at waist height. It’s an unashamedly girly dress, anything with a ribbon to tie around your waist is bound to be, but it’s feminine rather than childish.

Order this dress based on your waist measurement I would say. There is plenty of room in the hips, and a a couple of inches room in the bust from the measurements given on the website. I ordered the medium, and it wasn’t a tight fit on my waist, so there is a little ease allowed.

This is a great Summer dress, available in several different colours and prints, that could be dressed up for a wedding or down for a picnic in the park. A good buy.

It’s also great for twirling in.
