Masquerade Print Swing Dress

I have spent the last few days in Basel in Switzerland enjoying their annual carnival. The streets were full of music and people in masks marching in a seemingly never ending parade through the streets.

I had a seriously magical time, but as I travelled with hand luggage only I had to put on hold my normal desperate urge for themed dressing. Sensible flat shoes and warm jumpers were the order of the day.

If I had my time again, however, I would definitely be taking this Lindy Bop dress with me. A masquerade novelty print swing dress would have been perfect for watching the parades and collecting the flowers and sweets thrown to the crowds.

I think that the purple background on this print gives it a real luxury feel. I would definitely want to team it with a petticoat to show off that print to the full. 3/4 length sleeves are also a great spring option, meaning you won’t have to cover up the print with a cardigan. For that matter they’re probably great for all but that one day of Summer we get in the UK every year, so I’m nominating this an all year round kind of a dress.

That print speaks for itself, so you don’t need a ton of accessories, but I’d love to team this with bright pink shoes and lipstick to pick up some of the colours from that fabulous print.
